Shopfront glass replacement
When a shopfront window breaks, every hour it stays open costs you: stock is exposed, customers stay away and the insurance calls begin. We replace shopfront glass for businesses across Gauteng, 7 days a week, with a temporary covering to secure the premises when special glass has to be sourced.
- Free call-outs
- Same-day service
- Open 7 days
Same-day on the glass we carry: 4mm float and 6.38mm laminated shatterproof. Other glass we source fast, and we can cover the opening in the meantime.
Secure first, then replace
A broken shopfront has two problems: the damage itself, and the fact that the building is now open to anyone. Our first priority is to make the premises secure. Where the replacement glass is a size or type we carry, we can often replace it on the same visit. Where it is not, we cover the opening with a temporary covering so you can lock up, and we source the right glass fast.
That way the decision about glass does not have to be rushed, and you are not left standing guard at the door.
Getting you trading again
For most businesses, the real cost of a broken window is lost trading time. We are open 7 days a week, weekends included, and call-outs are free. Our mobile teams carry 4mm float glass and 6.38mm laminated glass, and anything else we source fast.
Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole shopfront on WhatsApp, and we can start working on the quote while you deal with everything else.
Laminated glass for security
If your shopfront has been broken into, or you worry that it might be, laminated shatterproof glass is worth considering. Two layers of glass are bonded to a tough interlayer, so when the glass is struck it cracks but holds together instead of falling out. That makes a quick smash-and-grab much harder and much noisier.
Laminated glass comes in three performance variations: Normal Strength (NS), High Penetration Resistant (HPR) and High Impact (HI). For a shop that has been targeted before, it is worth asking which one suits your premises.
Toughened glass for doors and busy entrances
Glass doors and full-height panels in busy entrances take safety glass. Toughened glass is up to five times stronger than ordinary float glass of the same thickness, and it suits frameless and bolted glazing. It is made to size, so it is sourced rather than carried on the van, and we can cover the opening in the meantime.
Aluminium, steel and wooden shopfronts
Most modern shopfronts are aluminium, with the glass held in by rubber glazing seals. Older buildings often have steel frames glazed with putty, and some have timber frames with beading. Each is reglazed differently, and we work on all three. Knowing the frame type in advance helps us bring the right materials, which is another reason photos save time.
For shopping centres and managed buildings, check whether the landlord or centre management needs to approve the work or the glass type before we start.
Before you call
It helps to have the width and height of the pane if you can measure it safely, and to know whether the glass is in an aluminium, steel or wooden frame. If you are not sure, photos tell us most of what we need.
How to send us photos
1. A close-up of the damage
Get near enough that we can see the crack, the break and the edge of the frame.
2. The whole window or door
Step back and take one of the full opening, so we can see its size and frame type.
